May 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The US Navy SEALs have been all over the news lately, something that's apparent as website traffic to Navy themed sites spikes. USMilitary.com recently published an article on SEAL training to take advantage of this increase in interest.
Although the US Navy SEALs typically operate behind the scenes, these men have enjoyed publicity and commendation from Americans, including President Barack Obama, in the past week after the recent operation involving Osama bin Laden.
With the SEALs in the public eye, website traffic to sites focused on the military, and Navy in particular, have dramatically risen. NavySEAL.com traffic is up 1102%, Navy.org is up 152% and USNavy.com is up 88%. It is thought that this spike is directly related to the operation in Pakistan.
To help Americans understand the life of a SEAL, USMilitary.com recently published a guest blog from a former SEAL. Larry Fowler graduated from SEAL training (BUDS Class #89) in 1977. He recently visited the Hotel Del Coronado to watch today's Navy SEAL recruitment class go through its training exercise along the California beach.
"I wanted to see if today's BUDS (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training is easier than it was when I went though in 1977. Although there were a few differences, today's SEALs need more than just heart to get through. They need to be a superior athlete with agility on the 'O' course, a swimmer that can endure many miles in cold water swims at a motor boat pace, and lastly, be a runner that can seemingly sprint for miles while wearing combat boots in the thick, hot California sand," said Fowler (http://www.usnavy.com).
The article is just one that highlights the training and dedication Navy SEALs must have in order to become a member of this exclusive and elite team. Anyone interested in becoming a SEAL will find other articles that outline how to become a Navy SEAL and how to overcome and pain and adversity the training puts potential SEALs through.
"Any former SEAL will tell you, it's not for everyone. Applicants need to be tough, but the rewards are truly worth it. Military members, whether they're Navy, Air Force, Army or Marines, develop a camaraderie that can last a lifetime, but the bonding and trust that SEALs have goes even deeper. If you're interested in learning more about the SEALs or the Navy in general, visit http://www.Navy.org to learn more," said Fowler.
